I'm not disagreeing, but it does seem to be done fairly often, though,
doesn't it? One of the latest Aussie ex-soap-star pop 'sensations' Natalie
Imbruglia has had quite a few promo shots done with one (flat light,
circular catchlight). Maybe it's touched up (on a computer or otherwise),
but it's been happening since the '60s. Perhaps it's useful for black and
white portraits, but would the flat lighting be worse for the loss of
colour?
(This is worth much less than 2 cents, probably less than .02 cents <g>,
since I've never actually _used_ a ring flash....)
