I try lots of things to shake myself up--such as taking only one prime lens on
a trip, shooting without looking through the viewfinder, shooting exclusively
with a cheap plastic camera (Ansco Pix Panoramic is good) for a number of
days, shooting only themes (corroded metal, personalized mail boxes, closed
store fronts, signs with forced sentiments, dead animals, tunnels--anything
that forces you to work to get an interesting image), etc.
There is a book around titled The Artist's Way (or something close to that),
but it requires a lot of work to stay with its program.
