At 03:54 PM 6/12/98 -0700, virtually everybody wrote various things about
electrolytic capacitors for photoflash apps.
First, check out the following URLs:
http://www.advantagecomponents.com/capacit.htm
- and/or -
http://www.cornell-dubilier.com/photo.htm
The first URL is for Rubycon Corporation, which claims to have 700f the
world-wide market for photoflash capacitors. The page is long on marketroidese
and short on specifics, but what the heck.
The second URL is a parts page for Cornell-Dubilier Electronics, a U.S.
manufacturer of capacitors of all types. This particular page discusses their
line of photoflash caps. It looks like it *might* be a good source for caps
for our beloved T32's etc. Unfortunately, the link for "Ordering Information"
doesn't talk about pricing, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they expect such
caps to be ordered in industrial lot quantities. Mebbe if everyone here with a
T-series flash raised their hands we could pool our resources for ordering
purposes? ;-)
Second, I'd be forever in their debt* if those people (who opined that leaving
the capacitor/circuit combo in a photoflash charged and powered up for extended
periods of time was a bad thing) could give me more specifics, plus some
sources to read up on this. I was quite surprised upon reading this, and would
like to follow up for my own peace of mind.
Thanks, all!
Garth
