I had (or still have in pieces) a Series I 24-70. It was quite good at the
24mm end with some vignetting at the close end and lack of contrast at the far
end. It stopped zooming so I attemped a repair--I still have all the parts.
Kalimar makes a current 24-70 but it is not the same as the Vivitar as I have
compared the two. It was my main lens when paired with the Series I 100-500
which used the same size filters.
My current carry around kit is all prime lenses from 21mm to 200mm. I get a
much higher percentage of "keepers" with this set up.
