Hi Paul,
I found my notes, but I have lent the winder to a friend, so I can not
describe the modification as well as I want to just yet. I have found
the diagram I made for the unmodified electronics, but I still miss the
description of the change. This is where I need the winder, because
looking at the diagram I think I can remember what I did, but I can not
quite convince myself that it works safely. I suspect that the notes
are not entirely correct, because the thing has been working for years.
Anyway, what I think I did was to short the capacitor connected directly
to the release switch. The circuit immediately around the release switch
is like this:
+6V ---------+-----------
|
| switch
|
+---||----
| capacitor (to be shorted)
/
\
/ resistor
\
|
0V ---------+---------------
If you know enough electronics to use this, go ahead if you want to take
the chance. Otherwise I ask you to have a little patience. I hope to
get the winder back in a few days. Then I can find out for sure, what I
did to it.
I have some web space available, so I am considering to place the
description there along with the diagram and a photo of the modification.
Of course with appropriate dire warnings (abandon all hope, etc.) ;-)
Regards
Lars
