Compensation for unusual subjects is required for most meters. However,
flash exposures are more likely to require adjustment. A wide latitude film
makes life easier. Calculations are required for the lens f/stop from
extension. TTL flash does thus automatically. A flashmeter does not. John
Shaw gives a method of flash placement that requires this to be only be done
once.
