Well, as any of you in the computer field will know, a server which
proves stable for a while will soon be in need of an upgrade, just to
keep the technical guys busy... ;-)
Good ol' Zuiko has been a little sluggish at times lately, so I
decided to take a look. Since Nov 20, she's delivered just over
620,000 outgoing messages, for a total of just under 3 Gb. Probably
not a big deal, except that she's now also serving as our primary
DNS, which is taking a beating during peak periods. (averaging just
over 2 lookups per second, much higher peak...)
So.... I expect to be taking Zuiko down for a RAM upgrade sometime
over springbreak, but the interruption should go unnoticed, as the
backup queue will store things.
I hope to improve both DNS response and list delivery times -
currently it takes around 45+ minutes to deliver a message to the
whole list.
