Hi all:
I'd like to get other's opinions on "price heckling". What do I mean by
this? Say I post an item for sale, and you think my price is too high.
Is it ethical for you, as an uninvolved party, to challenge my pricing
publically in the list? I have been very tempted in the past to
"heckle" various people, but have refrained, because I gave these people
the benefit of the doubt, assuming that they had good reasons for
posting the price they did. I also think it sets a bad precident. If
people continuously heckle eachother's pricing, I don't think stuff will
continue to be advertised here any longer. To me, it's just really rude
(you listening, Brad?) to butt in about a price when you aren't planning
to buy the item. I have seen cases on rec.photo.marketplace where
someone had something sold, then some smart guy price heckled, and the
sale fell through. And these weren't cases where the items were
overpriced. Let's not let this list drop to the level of r.p.m.
Ideas? Thoughts? My next post will be a re-pricing of my lenses, since
I'm sure no one will want them at my original prices due to Brad's price
heckling.
Cheers,
--Lee
