No flash ready light sounds distinctly dodgy - check the connections
again - occassionally the camera contacts are below the level of the
plastic in the shoe when they should be flush.
Flash firing on full power is consistent with the lack of flash
confirmation - check you have film (or grey paper) on the focal plane.
(I know it sounds like a condescending comment, but you would be
surprised how many people complain that OTF metering isn't working when
they don't have film in the camera!). Finally, does the Cobra DM400
have a T-series connector that you could try it out with - or do you
know anyone with a T32 & cable? If all of these don't get it going it
would indeed appear to be faulty.
