George,
Olympus make a wicked screen for macro work and its far cheaper than the
Beattie jobbie. I've forgotten the number at present but I'll try and
remember to check tonight. Its original use (I think) is for long tele's
when focussing becomes a problem (OM 600mm f/6.5 etc). The screen is
almost clear glass with a bright centre spot and no split image. Its
marvelous for use with macro gear - very bright and things snap into
focus. Its one drawback is that because its not a matte screen, but
almost clear glass, it is not possible to determine DOF by stooping down
with the DOF button; you just get a horribly vignetted viewfinder.
Someone might know the number of the screen I'm talking about.
John.
