John,
I have an old "Olympus OM System"brochure that I got when I bought my OM4T
several years ago. It says that the 2X is_not_recommended for the 300mm
lens. It says:
"2X-A Applicable lenses: 100mm F2.8, 135 F3.5, 200mm F4, 100-200 F5;
Optical construction 6-6
1.4X-A Applicable lenses: 180mm F2, 300mm F4.5, 350mm F2.8, 400mm F6.3;
Optical construction 5-4."
I have seen some slides shot with the 2x and the 400mm which is not
recommended and they look pretty good.
