Hello RB:
<< Does anyone know if there is an optical reason why the Zuiko 2X-A
teleconverter is not recommended for lenses other than the 100, 135's,
200--f/4, and 100-200? >>
The Lens Lexicon chapter to "The Olympus OM System Lens Handbook" gives a
clue. It states that "The OM System Teleconverters are carefully designed to
achieve maximum sharpness, and suitable lenses are clearly indicated." Hence,
there is just too much optical compromise *to the designers* to state that the
2X-A can be used with other lenses. What is acceptable is up to you, though.
I saw one of these new (in box) going for $94 US at Golden Triangle in Tampa,
FL. That was last November. I was probably nuts not to buy it - they had a
new T-32 for $97, also - but I was hard up for money at the time. I doubt I'd
use one, though. The light loss is too much and I doubt I'd be happy with the
optical performance.
