Which 24-48/f4 lens is it? Or, do you by any chance refer
to the Zuiko 28-48/f4?
If it's the latter, then IMHO it's a very sharp, well
corrected compact zoom, which is a lot of fun to have on
your camera body if you're wandering around town on foot
on a bright sunny day. I used it quite a bit last year on
a trip to Spain, with excellent results.
Faster/wider aftermarket alternatives exist, e.g. Tokina
AT-X 24-40/f2.8, Tamron SP 24-48/f3.5-3.8, Vivitar Series 1
24-48/f3.8 (big and heavy!), and Soligor 24-45/f3.5-4.5.
