What a beautiful design, more that a cursory nod to the original OM's, it wouldn’t look out of place alongside the OM1
2,3 or 4 but I wont be buying one, Thomas Eisl has uploaded a detailed review on youtube & he's smitten to say the
least, I'll stick my neck out & say Maitani would approve.
At least it corrects one ergonomic problem with the OM-1. I t moves the Menu button back from the outer darkness of top
left back where it belongs, in the cluster of buttons on the right side of the back. 🙂 Yes, I know, Sony SLR style
bodies so the same thing, and they are wrong, too!
Fortunately, OM-1 bodies allow one to switch Menu to the garbage can button. When, as I often am, using the left hand to
cradle a big lens, reaching across with the right hand is crazy.
The on/off switch is also wrong. Back with film, I found the switch on left top OK, fewer long lenses, they required
tripods and turning off to save battery life wasn't a big deal. Again, OM-1 bodies allow moving that function to the
little switch around the AEL button. My thumb know how to use that without thought. I'm guessing the OM allows the same
thing.
Left hand, focus and/or zoom, right hand operate
