As usual, I went to Copenhagen at the end of October to visit my father’s grave
on the anniversary of his death on 1st November, 20 years ago this year. But
during my 2 days there, I also did a lot of other things, enjoyed the good
weather (by Danish autumn standards) and visited my favourite modern art
museum, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art on the shores of Øresund, the strait
separating Denmark and Sweden, about 30 km north of Copenhagen. I have shown
this place on previous occasions; but this time I also went, for the first
time, to the Karen Blixen museum in Rungsted, another small town on the coast,
where the famous writer lived from her return from Kenya in 1931 until her
death in 1962. Her house is now a museum, accessible via a lovely path through
a forest about 1 km from the commuter train station. So lots of autumn colours
