Image search seems to says White Checkered Skipper, or maybe Common Checkered Skipper. So similar that I'm not sure, nor
am I sure of the labels on many of the images.
About a mile NE of our house, in the Tilden Botanic Garden. It's the major institution focused on Calif. Native plants
and keeping rare and endangered species around. Lovely place. All of the photos after it are there.
There were many of the usual, golden brown skippers working a bush - among them
this one different one.
