In the past couple of weeks, I've had to endure three massive updates on this
Win10 laptop. I've gone through all of the exercises suggested online,
including the registry change, and there is no stopping them. The result is
that I have lost a considerable amount of productivity.
My last, and possibly only resort is to abandon Win10 and revert back to Win7.
Granted, I only need it for internet access, but sitting helplessly while you
watch the blue screen telling you that the updates are proceeding and you
should not turn off your machine is a complete waste of time.
I've been around computers since 1968, using punched take and converted RTTY
terminals, and this is the worst operating system that I have experienced.
WinXP was the best one, but you can no longer use it for internet access.
So, with no solution available for stopping the automatic updates, I'm going to
dust off my earlier Dell 6300 Win7 machines and use them. Once I have them up
and running, I'm going to take my spare Dell 6430 Win10 machine and format the
hard drive by way of the command console. Then I'll install Win7. After that,
I'll transfer data from these Win10 machines and format them as well.
But, if anyone has a guaranteed way of stopping these automatic Win10 updates,
I would really like to know. Nothing found online works.
