I have an old Dell PC which is kept for one application only as hat
program refuses to run on anything but Windows Vista. The PC's fan
stopped running and to remove and replace it I needed to remove the
CPU heatsink. Unfortunately, the heatsink had glued itself to the CPU
and in removing the heatsink I also pulled the CPU out of its socket.
There's no way that I can guide the CPU back into the socket with the
heatsink still attached, but it really is firmly attached. Does
anyone have any ideas on loosening it from the heatsink?
