Taking this little jape too seriously . . .
Have you ever used a lens this long? DoF gets ridiculously shallow, even at something like f5.6 or f8. F2.8 would be
useless for anything 3D, unless perhaps going for a really artsy look.
I've just posted several focus stacks, 400mm, f6.3-f8, stacked for the simple reason that any one shot has very
insufficient DoF.
The inflexibility of FL is also a problem. Subjects for long lenses have a troubling tendency to be located such that
"sneaker zoom" doesn't work. If I need 300 mm, only have 350, and can't back up - Oops!
I have the OM 600/6.5, really cheap as-is, not focusing - until I fixed it. Just not a very practical lens. Subjects
fill the FF frame almost exactly the same as a 100-400 mm zoom @ 400 mm, on µ4/3. IQ is also similar, if the OM lens is
stopped down to f8. The smaller format zoom is far smaller, lighter and more flexible.
A tour de force design for film, when it debuted in the deep past, now a white
elephant. 😁
