Perhaps of some interest to a few listees. Recently obtained a Fitbit Sense
after being reimbursed $299 from google/fitbit for an Ionic that I paid $150.00
for and 1/2 off a Sense and extra band to boot. The Ionic battery has
overheated for some and caused severe burns in a few (take it off fast if
getting warm, no?) including one person I know.
I typically have used an I-gotU for longer and especially overseas trips for
geotagging several cams. One can change the frequency of syncing and prolong
the battery life for many many days if desired at the price of some loss of
accuracy. Perfect for horse trips and it isvery tough. It was a bit of a pain
if the camera time was not set correctly and the software changed the time
stamps for the images to the EST or EDT equivalent. I have a newer one from
Moose and have used it several times to good effect.
I tried the Sense which syncs to Strava and has GPS, GLonass and Gallileo
constellations but a bit erratic like the Ionic if stationary. Still the
software is much more stable and syncs automagically to Strava on my phone
where it takes a sec to download .gpx files. I tried it in Maine and it worked
well enough and the watch is usually on my wrist and charged anyway. One
downside it runs the battery down about 10% per hour and the rate of syncing
is not user adjustable.
Then I tried it on my LaPalma trip and was mortified when the adjustment for
time zones did not work. I can get them geotagged but then the time stamp of
the image and in the GPS data don't sync and from experience know Smugmug will
balk and not show the tag. See rant below which is similar to mine.

OK just to be sure I started over and made sure everything was just right as
had been very rushed. OK a couple Strava GPX files were missing and fixed
that. Then noticed an inadvertent box ticked in Geosetter--didn't matter in
Maine but that would result in not using the proper Canary Island DST.
Unchecked and all went fine. Phew.
As Roseanne Roseannadanna says, It's always something. Make sure it is not
user error. Careful out there.
Never mind, Mike
