I can confirm that this is real. I have been very puzzled by this very
problem here in Alaska. It's not an issue if I've already been
outdoors for a while and the lens temperature has stabilized with the
ambient temperature, but if I am shooting from the car or right around
the house, it is absolutely an issue. It is weird getting heat wavies
when it's -15F.
