I would have to agree. I did not give the image a full court press with
multiple iterations/combination of tools and perhaps a different sequence would
be better. The focal plane is in the center of the hawk and not its eye. I may
have been short a stop or two on dof as well. The back part of the fence is
already beyond the plane of focus. The training sets for both of the topaz
products used clearly include bird feather details and it is not clear to me
why it didn't hold up well to higher mags--OK at modest viewing size though.
There should not have been much cam shake effect with the SS, FL on that cam.
I bet atmospheric effects balled it up some.
