My latest contracting has me writing C++ code and having to learn the newer
features. I have tried doing a kindle C++ book on the PC and it is just too
hard. So I only use kindle for books that read in a linear fashion like novels.
And is great for trips.
Seems as soon as I learn something, my brain forgets it. There was a study on
the what part of the brain programming uses and it is not the language part of
the brain. I write something that seem perfectly obvious and a week later I
wonder, what was I thinking? Something about synthesizing or creating a
solution to a problem from a bunch of pieces of information is challenging.
Similarly, is trying to figure out how to do something new in Photoshop. And a
plethora of bookmarks I never go back to ... Brain stretching in ways. We are
creatures of habit.
