Likely my last chance to find a Bronze on our asters took place last Saturday
with a very sparsely attended NABA outing. It was foggy and cool for the
first 1.5 hrs of looking which limited the sightings of any flutterbys close to
zero.
The sun broke through and found some interesting critters but could not find
any Bronze Coppers. I learned later that a couple were spotted later that
afternoon, but had looked in all the usual areas X 2.
I have never spotted a Fiery Skipper until today--I did find him and scratched
my head. They were not seen in these parts until a few years ago--a late
season uncommon migrant. It seems we will see more with the climate changing
and they can be very abundant in other areas. I am not a super skipper fan as
many seem to be LBJ's----official designation for "little brown jobs." This
one is a tad better and I did my best on the processing.
