You got me there Mike, dunno anything about heterozygosity !

When was the Mk III released ?  I had an email from Oly Australia last week 
advertising a deal for the Mk II where they are throwing in an f1.2 lens 
(17/25/45 your choice) with the body, probably trying to clear old stock.

Check the net to see if it's a common problem - somebody might have been 
through it before.
