I’d say this website is really on to something! Many somethings, in fact!
Seriously, this technique “generates” or “synthesizes” nothing. If you read the
fine print, it takes a bunch of existing high-res images, down-rezzes them,
then picks the one that matches the pixellated version best.
I guess it might be useful to law enforcement with a huge database of faces for
identifying people caught doing bad things (like protesting, or holding up the
line at Wendy’s, or being black or native) on security cam.
Nothing to see here, folks. Move on now.
