Wayne, it appears to be the aluminum itself. I have a old Cyclone fence
with aluminum ties to the top rail, and every one of those ties shows
tooth marks, some very deep. And, at least once, the power company has
replaced the three-wire feed to my house because, where it passed
through some oak branches, a number of the aluminum strands of the bare
neutral were completely severed. This results in a reduction in the
voltage of 120-volt circuits.

Only when they get to the bird feeders or chew up a cable. They seem to
crave aluminum, like power feed neutral cables, and once wreaked havoc on
a fiber optic bundle.

ground. This squirrel was feasting there later, and let me know that
he wasn't the least bit afraid of the lens at the window.
