As I work for telecommunication companies, most of my services are
free, unless regulated. When we moved to Alaska, we completely gave up
the landline, but we had actually ceased using one several years
earlier. We only had one because Windstream didn't have unbundled
services, so a landline was required for DSL. While I have the option
for a free landline here, we don't even bother. All of our voice calls
are cell-phones, or through some form of Skype, Facetime, or whatever.
Same with the television. I've got something like 500 channels, but
only tune into one or two and let the Tivo catch the shows. Everything
else is Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Primary reason is that the real
world here in Alaska is FAR MORE interesting than anything on
television. Except for Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers or something
like that. And I get to run into (literally) the guys from those shows
anyway.
(BMW damage is over $9000 from my space-time issue with the driver from IRT).
