I'm partial to the original.

Probably what I would have done is bring the mids up just a bit on the
right side, but leave the shadow side of the face dark.
Lifting the shadow side of the face that much really makes the image
kinda creepy. Not saying the subject is creepy, just the editing is
creepy.
