I have been experimenting with different photo editor options, but not in depth
enough to give any reliable opinion. There are a lot of good options, even
though I drop back to PS since I can. I never really liked Lightroom from the
beginning so never use it. But my workflow is hobbyist.
I'm impressed by the progress other editors have been making. I picked up
Affinity on sale for $39.99, normally $49.99. It has some key features I am
about to explore more: HDR merging, panorama stitching, focus stacking, and
more. And is available for Mac.
Also on my plate is ON1 Photo Raw, now in 2020 beta, Capture One pro, which was
discounted with Sony version support only, and Topaz Studio 2. I have a focus
stack test where PS fails terribly I have yet to test (and test with Helicon
Focus).
JCristina did a series on "life after adobe" on youtube, if you can listen
through all the other verboseness, but he does present some considerations.
