I've been using one of these and it works fine. Take the laptop and plug 
the extender in where you get a couple of bars and you're good to go. 
Mine is plugged into the shed outside and the kids (camping in the back 
field) use it. I believe I paid less on sale.

I also have a model TP Link AC1200 that cost more and doesn't work as well.
