I think Eric Brown's summary, which I saw on a documentary about the P-51 a
few years ago sums it up. Paraphrasing a little: If I had to get into a
dogfight, I'd want to do it in a Spitfire. If I had to get from England to
a dogfight over Germany, I can't use one, because I won't get back again,
so I'd have a Mustang.
