As I’ve written before on the List, I now love auto transmissions. My wife’s
Audi A1 with its DSG 7-speed is a little go-kart; my BMW X3 with its torque
converter 8-speed is a little more sedate but the gearbox does all manner of
clever things for me, and it is extremely economical when I want it to be. I’m
trying to work out how to get a sports steering wheel fitted so that I can use
the paddles occasionally, though.
