My Gerber Centre-Drive goes almost everywhere with me. (Well, not airport
security...)
It is the first and only pocket multi-tool I've seen that has a screwdriver
that is actually useful for anything but an inconvenient emergency.
It features an offset magnetic holder for standard screwdriver bits, and a
pouch for storing them in the scabbard. The tungsten carbide cutters on the
pliers are replaceable. (Hint: these are standard machinist's thread-cutting
bits, available on evilBay for 1/10th what Gerber charges for them.) Both the
blade and the screwdriver holder unfold quickly without having to open up the
whole tool. The pliers slide open with one hand and a flick of the wrist. The
file is actually quite serviceable, and I use it on my scythe in the field.
I've been through numerous multi-tools, going back to the original hand-cutting
Leatherman, and this one's the best I've used. I carry a 5/16ths nut driver
bit, as well as different Philips, Robertson, and flat bits, and can use this
tool for 85% of things I'd normally be running back to the shop to fetch tools
for, and not just for inconvenient emergencies, but the tool of choice.
Everything about this tool is well-designed and well-thought-out!
