My favorite in those days, and all I could afford, a Piper PA-22
Tri-Pacer. It had a 150HP Lycoming 4-cyl, fixed pitch prop, manual
flaps, and 36-gal tanks, seating four, max gross wt of 2000 pounds. I
was a member of a flying club from 1957 to 1966. It would definitely
out-perform the Cessna equivalent, off grass or pavement.

You are correct. There is no scheduled passenger service here. Nashville is 70
miles away by Interstate. There is a combined fire/ambulance station 6-8
minutes away.
My last night flight appears to have been in 1966, when I shot 6 night
take-offs and landings.
