I was in Paris earlier this week for a couple of days, in connection with a
conference we organised together with the OECD. I had a free afternoon and some
time in the evenings as well. Of course I wanted to see Notre Dame—I was last
there in March, before the fire—and I also wanted to visit the nearby memorial
to the 200,000 people deported from France during the war, among whom were
members of the French branch of my family. I also spent some time in
Montmartre, walking up to the Basilique du Sacré Coeur, something I last did as
a teenager in the 1970s. And, as always, I focused on quirky and (I hope)
interesting details.

And as always, comments and critique are welcome and appreciated.
