It is much more work than going to a store, but have you considered changing
layouts?
I switched to Dvorak many years ago, and never looked back. (I can still
hunt-peck on a QWERTY keyboard if I have to.) Your fingers travel 1/11th as
much with a Dvorak keyboard. And all modern computer operating systems let you
switch easily. (Well, still more easily on a Mac, as I had to get tech support
to do it on the Winblows machine at the school library where I sub.)
I switched in the 80s as part of a human-factors research project at
Textronix's Computer Research Laboratories. I found that it took me a week to
make the switch, cold-turkey.
Combined with an Adesso sculpted keyboard, my carpel-tunnel symptoms went away.
(They still come back when weeding the garden, though... at least that's my
excuse... :-)
