Eric whom I was traveling with and a former shooting champion and I, were also
intrigued. Pat had a (double barrel) riflle with him all along in a pouch, even
taking it to the restaurant and to the loo (for fear of theft I presume).
The impressive cartridges are like small shells, and supposed to be able to
kill an elephant, or any of the big five, should they charge people. He didn’t
say if poachers were also a potential target. Guards receive special training,
he said. Not all guides are guards though. I don’t know the caliber nor the
details.
