…or San Juan de Alicante in normal Spanish rather than the Valencian dialect.
San Juan/Sant Joan is the neighbouring municipality, in effect part of Alicante
just like El Campello where I live. I went there yesterday to check out an
Irish pub I had spotted, just over 2 km from my house. The pub was OK but no
great shakes, but as I was getting on my bicycle to go home, I heard music and
noticed the street leading into the “pueblo” was closed. It turned out that
they were having a carnival celebration. The equipment I had on my was not
ideal for low-light photography (Panasonic GF1), but I managed a few photos
nevertheless.
