Every once in a while, there is something in the news that just grabs your
attention. Today, it was an announcement from Mattel that they are going to
market an addition to their line of Barbie dolls. This time, it's "Wheelchair
Barbie" and "Prosthetic Barbie":

Okay, there's nothing at all wrong or even adverse about this. It's just
a bit striking. Especially coming from a manufacturer who produced the stock
and barrel shield for the M-16 back during Vietnam.
Decades ago, they came out with "Star Trek Barbie and Ken", with the two
of them dressed in Federation officer's uniforms:

What they DIDN'T do was produce a Klingon version. I would have loved to
have seen Barbie dressed in one of those Klingon outfits with the dew claw.
They did, however, make a doll for Uhura:
