Beginning Thursday, the weather in the southeast is going to become a bit
rough. A very strong teardrop low will be forming, extending into the
north-central Gulf of Mexico, over New Orleans. Early Friday winds at altitude
will approach 100 kts along the eastern margin over Georgia and the Carolinas,
and by noon the storm will tighen up and intensify, extending into central
Florida. It will then sweep up the eastern seaboard, and finally off shore
early Saturday.
This is the strongest storm I've observed so far this season. The tornado
near Seattle was a complete surprise for everyone. Fortunately, there were no
fatalities.
