About one per day, according to the New York Times, up from one every 200 days
as recently as 2011, according to Wikipedia.
Something COULD be done about this, except for the nut jobs who can't imagine
what a "well-regulated militia" could look like.
That key statement in the Constitution COULD fix it. In Switzerland, gun
ownership is similar, but every gun owner is required to be in the equivalent
of a "well-regulated militia," who drum out the unstable crazies. (Switzerland
has under 1% of the gun homicide rate as the US) The crazies who don't want
"gubamint control" COULD be placated, as a "well-regulated militia" COULD
include every rod and gun club in every tiny town.
This is not a problem that can be fixed by Big Gubamint. But it COULD be fixed
in a distributed manner, by peer pressure and control.
I took my required Canada Firearm Safety Course over a year ago, and I'm still
waiting for my Possession and Acquisition License. Guess it's time to call up
RCMP to find out what terrorist they have me confused with.
Obligate photography content: I was involved in a "mass shooting" at the local
high school last week, helping the journalism class get acquainted with their
cameras.
