Hmmm... I wonder what the cause of all the deaths is?
Decline of J, K and L pods are due to, in order of declining affect...
--decimated chinook salmon runs, their primary food source. This has
been caused by over fishing and human-caused habitat destruction and
perhaps recent warm water off the coast. (there is no direct connection
to global warming)
--increased pollution levels in their metabolism. As apex predators the
buck stops with them.
The above are thought to be the biggest factors.
--interference with feeding by noise and boat traffic. If you visit to
see the whales watch from shore rather than contribute to their decline.
The transient population which feeds on mammals is not in decline.
