Tina, I'd probably just replace the phone with another iPhone. If you
are happy with the iOS ecosystem, I wouldn't bother switching. The
Otterbox should have protected it better, but there is no accounting
for the odd hit that cracks something internally. That can happen to
any phone of any brand/model. Even the industrial strength ones.
That said, I've been using a Motorola Z Force Droid. Love it. I do
have a "screen protector" on it because it does scratch easily
(shatterproof material) and it's in an Otterbox. The camera is
actually pretty outstanding too. Very high pixel density (21MP, I
believe), and has the ability to shoot "raw". The lens is optically
stabilized.
When I bought it, I tested out multiple phones and felt that it was
the most solid of them all. It's a bit more overbuilt than the average
phone. I considered the Google Pixel line, but just like the Samsungs,
you can twist it in your hands. I don't want to say that they are
"flimsy", but compared to the Z Force, they are. My wife bought the
latest/greatest Samsung at the same time and mine ran circles around
it in every way.
Also, most importantly, Motorola/Lenovo runs an almost native version
of Android with very little bloatware. Updates are quickly distributed
too. But, I think you need Verizon to get the best version of the Z
Force phones.
My personal problem with iOS stems from the fact that an iPhone feels
like a camera with "Program Mode" only. Android gives you a full
"PASM" dial. (not talking the camera feature, just how the operating
systems differ). Granted, iOS is very good at guessing how you should
live and will keep you away from danger, but Android lets you stand on
the edge of a cliff and will gladly give you a shove.
