Some of the best lenses I've ever owned were the Zeiss/Kyocera lenses for the
Contax G2. If that camera had decent AF, I'd still be using it.

I think you are on to something. May explain some shots with very noticeable
"3D rendering." Many of the C/Y lenses have this in spades. The Loxia have the
characteristic Zeiss microcontrast but not sure the 3D pop of the C/Y is there.
Perhaps a similar phenomenon. How does AG come up with this stuff? Makes for
fun reading anyway. Totally agree though that calculated dof based on thin lens
approximation and perceived dof are not one in the same.
Curiously the ye olde c/y 35-70 at the long end has enough resolution for 42
megapickles. Perhaps the 35/2 does as well --or at least good enough.
