At a thrift store today I picked up a Bogen 3016 monopod with a Manfrotto
342 mini ball head for $7.99, and a Manfrotto 3000/3001 tripod with a Manfrotto
3262 ball head for $17.99. Both are in very good condition.
Both of these came with 300-QRC Auto Quick Release mechanisms, but no
plates.
Isn't that a rule - all tripods/heads in thrift stores come without QR plates?
That's been my experience.
I recently bought a tripod I've wanted to try for ages on the 'Bay. The pix didn't show a plate, but a question to the
seller proved there was one, and he added a pic. As with you, I didn't particularly want the head, but if I was buying
one, I wanted one with a plate, not a $44 hole to fill, so I could sell it for more. It's in the KEH box for their next
local visit.
I like some things Manfrotto, but not their ball heads, so I'll pass. I recently gave my 410 head new stickers to
replace the ones peeling and falling off - looks like new now! I do like he way Manfrotto has parts for everything
readily available at non-outrageous prices.
