How does one use filters on these lenses?
I'm having trouble figuring out when/why I would want/use a filter. Then again, Dean has suggested using it for video
underwater. No filters for me.
The normal filter threads are recessed for the special cap.
That bit needs editing. "It has a 49mm filter mount . . . (so you cannot use it for
filters) . . ."
Wrong. Filter rings are female threads, whereas these are male. Correct that it
can't be used for filters, though. ;-)
". . . set back from the front of the lens . . . that is used for the special screw-in lens cap, and to which you can
attach the T10 Ring Flash 1, the T8 Ring Flash 2 or the mounting ring for the T-28 Macro Flash 1."
Just so.
Several sites mention "32mm slide on" versions but no clue what they are.
Slide/push/slip-on filters were pretty common in folding camera days. Somewhere around here, I have a Kodak Wratten
filter adapter of push on design from my dad's old Kodak folder. A google search for images of "push on lens filter"
shows all sorts, from ancient to contemporary for drone/action cameras.
I thought Oly's solution for Macro was filtering the light.
