What ever you do, do not be fobbed off into receiving Scottish pound
notes! I have a few of them issued by Bank of Scotland, The Royal Bank
of Scotland, and the Clydesdale Bank. They are, or were, good for 100
pennies in the pound in Scotland but take them to England and you'd be
lucky to get 70 pennies in the pound if anything at all.

Tried it. It's a special transaction to request foreign currency
exchange here. That's how Robin bought the pounds. However they don't
want to hassle with people bringing in foreign currency. I've given up
even doing loonies and we live 4mi from the border! Besides, these bills
are no longer legal tender. At least as of next week.
I'm thinking that we'll just go to the Nat'l Bk of Scotland in Edinburgh
and see.
