Thanks Charlie. Someday hope to grab a shot early in AM properly demonstrating
their piercing yellow gaze. SC is quite low latitude for an Arctic bird that
has a taste for lemmings, but they seem to
do that at times. Some years few are even as far south as New England if
there is enough food---they are one of the few birds that can tolerate an
Arctic winter. They seem to be hanging out at Plum Island where there are
abundant ducks.
Oh, some of my birder patients have abandoned the heavy fast bazooka lenses
with Wimberley gimbals for smaller sensor image stabilized mirrorless
rigs--one had a shoulder injury so had no choice, but he had few complaints..
