When I was in school in Seattle they were in the process of switching 
from trolleys which still ran on tracks to the trolleys with tires. Our 
route up Capitol Hill was tires. The electrical arms which ran on the 
overhead wires were kept in contact by large springs. The kids thought 
it was great fun to run up behind the bus and pull the arms loose and of 
course the bus came to an abrupt stop. Driver had to get out and put 
them back.
